The DoD 5220.22-M or "Clearing and sanitizing information on a writable media" is the current industry standard data erasure algorithm.

TRI guarantees all data from your system is destroyed and not recoverable. Storage media is either electronically wiped or physically destroyed before it leaves our security zone (to be re-marketed or recycled).

On-site Data Wiping

You have the option to have your proprietary information wiped, on-site, using specialized software (see below) or physically destroyed before your eyes. Also, documentation to record the data wiping and destruction activities, such as Certificates of Destruction, can be made available once the activities are completed.

Electronic Data Wiping:

Data Wipe Hard Drive Hard Disk Crusher We electronically wipe data to the DOD standard. Through the publications of NISP Operating Manual (NISTPOM), the US Department of Defense released the clearing and sanitizing standard DoD 5220.22-M. This method requires the data wiping application to "Overwrite all addressable locations with a character, its complement, then a random character and verify". At a bare minimum, we follow the DOD standard when wiping data.

All Electronic data erasure activities are documented in our asset management system. Serial number, lot number, wiping algorithms used as well as results are recorded and, when requested, provided back to you with Certificates of Destruction for your records.

Although the DOD standard is more than adequate for data erasure, we understand that your company IT Security Policy may require a different algorithm. We have the capability to do custom data erasure services based on your needs.

Physical Destruction:

In many cases electronic destruction of the media cannot be performed. This happens if the media is partially damaged, antiquated or something else interferes with reading the device. In these cases the media is removed for immediate physical destruction.

Hard Disk Crusher We physically destroy media with our crusher to ensure data cannot be recovered.
